This route connects two remarkable places: the German War Cemetery in Ysselsteyn in Limburg and the War Museum in Overloon in Brabant. Special, not only because the route leads through beautiful rural areas, but also because the traveler is regularly confronted with the tensions of the Second World War: 'allied' versus 'German', 'good' versus 'wrong' and, above all, ' alive' versus 'dead'.
The route was originally developed as a bicycle route and with some adjustments now also available in this form as a car route.
It is useful if you install the Venray Remembers app at home in advance and download the route with the experience points. You can easily do that here. On this page you will also find an instructional video on how to use the app.
You can also find the sights you encounter along the way, with a brief description, in the app. You will find them with a more extensive description on the website www.venrayremembers.nl.
Parking en route
Because the route was originally developed as a bicycle route, there is not always a nice parking space at the experience points (the benches). Prevent unsafe situations or inconvenience to others and park your car as well as possible. You will find instructions for this in the route description. There are usually good parking options at the sights.
