Extra bench 'On the other side' placed at the Big Church!

Have you spotted it yet? This special bench at the Big Church in Venray?
The bench bears the words 'On the other side' and symbolizes the different perspectives from which you can look back on the Second World War.

The bench was commissioned by the 'Toeristisch-recreatief Platform Venray', designed by Tomas Snels of Tomas Concept + Creation from 's-Hertogenbosch, made by artist Juul Baltussen from Westerbeek and installed by Bouwbedrijf Eijssen from Geijsteren.

You may have seen this bench on another spot before. There are in fact six more. The first six benches are part of the bicycle route 'On the other side', a special bicycle route (59 km) that connects two remarkable places: the German War Cemetery in Ysselsteyn in Limburg and the War Museum in Overloon in Brabant. On this route, the benches are a landmark that mark six experience points. At those benches you can experience a perspective of the Second World War via an augmented reality video that you project into the environment with the Venray Remembers app on your smartphone.

This (seventh) bench near the Big Church is not part of the cycle route, but it does symbolize its philosophy. There is no experience point linked to this bench, but maybe that will happen in the future. Check this website regularly or follow the Facebook page of VVVVenray to stay informed.
