Experience route 'On the other side' can now also be discovered by car

The war past of Venray and Overloon has previously been captured in a special and interactive way in cycling route 'On the other side'. The AUTOroute has now been launched to make the route suitable for a wider audience and less favorable weather conditions.

The 50 km long CAR route, which, like the bicycle route, connects two remarkable places, the German War Cemetery in Ysselsteyn and the War Museum in Overloon, tells you the story of our region during the Second World War.
During the route you will discover the liberation of Venray and you will regularly be confronted with the tensions of the Second World War. “Allied” versus “German”, “good” versus “wrong” and especially “alive” versus “dead”.

On the route you will find six experience points that can be recognized by a special bench. At the points you experience the liberation operations from a different perspective. The stories are brought to you in Augmented Reality films that you project into the environment with your smartphone. With this technique you feel part of the story and you see the experience as it was 75 years ago.
To make use of these points, it is wise to install the Venray Remembers app at home and download the route with the experience points. You can easily do that here or directly in the Appstore or Google Play store.

The starting point of the route is at the parking lot of holiday park Landal De Vers in Overloon. In the app and on www.venrayremembers.nl you will find the course of the route and the locations of the points of interest and places of interest.
The route itself is also visible in the app, but for route instructions and information along the way it is useful to download the PDF. The download link can be found on the route page.
Because the route was originally developed as a bicycle route, there is not always a nice parking space at the experience points. Prevent unsafe situations or inconvenience to others and park your car as well as possible.
