Liberation Route Europe is a continuously growing, international remembrance trail, connecting important milestonesof modern European history. The route links the main regions along the advance of the Allies. Hundreds of audio spots enable you to listen to personal stories at historical locations along the route. This is the location of Geijsteren Castle, which was heavily attacked for days in 1944 by British troops. 60 German paratroopers did all they could to defend the castle. Baron De Weichs de Wenne, with the help from an art-loving Austrian soldier, tried to save what could be saved. On the LRE website you can download the LRE app or listen to the sound clips.
